The birds at Lory Park originate from various backgrounds. Some of the birds belong to Eddy van Eck's private collection of parrots and others are injured, confiscated, abused or neglected birds that have come to Lory Park for care. Some of these birds also come from owners who have emigrated to other countries and have been unable to take their birds with them. Lory Park is part of several CITES I and CITES II breeding programmes e.g. the Gound Hornbill breeding group that we belong to. | We have a number of birds in our Tea Garden which are a integral part of our attraction at the Park. The public who spend time with these birds play an important role in helping them with their social disabilities (sometimes helping the public with their social diabilities). These Lory Park birds enjoy the attention given to them by our visitors to the Park and we encourage our visitors to spend time with these magnificent creatures. Our one legged Salmon Crested Cockatoo will gladly entertain anyone and everyone with his gentle nature. The Umbrella Cockatoo who goes by the name of 'Bazil' will sing a Happy Birthday song for anyone celebrating their birthday at the Park. Boarding and Lodging required for your bird/s when you go on holiday, is offered at Lory Park for your birds, see our Services page for further details | | | |
